THE FINE ARTS SCULPTURES |
|
|
Le Corbusier painted pictures that were potential sculptures.
After World War II, the artistic Breton carpenter Joseph Savina asked for permission
to render these compositions as sculptures. Le Corbusier agreed, and prepared
for him a series of large sketches, which Savina transposed into sculptures.
Thus began a fruitful collaboration. Le Corbusier supervised and completed Savina's
executions. He partially painted the sculptures, partly left their natural wood
surface exposed.
L-C: "Pictures were painted
which according
to their nature were sculptures
but where does the sculpture begin, or
the painting, or the architecture?"
